Q.What is the Glen Tanar Trail Running Festival?

A: The GlenTanar Trail Running Festival is a thrilling Trail Running Weekend held on the stunning Glen Tanar Estate. Participants run through forest trails, across rugged terrain and alongside sparkling rivers.

Q. When and where does the race take place?

A: The Glen Tanar Trail Running Festival takes place over the weekend of the 26 & 27 July. The event registration and start are all based on the Glen Tanar Estate.

Q: What distances can I run or walk?
A: There are 4 distances to test your mettle:

Saturday 26th July:

  • 15km – Start Time: 9:00
  • 8km – Start Time: 14:00

Sunday 27th July:

  • 55km Ultra – Start Time: 6:00
  • 25km – Start Time: 11:00

Q: Who can participate?
A: The age limits are as follows:

  • 8km – open to anyone 12 or upwards to run unaccompanied, 8 years and above with an Adult.
  • 15km – open to anyone 16 and above.
  • 25km – open to anyone 18 and above.
  • 55km – open to anyone 18 and above.

Q: How do I register?
A: Choose your entry distance and click enter now.  Entries close on the Tuesday before the race or when capacity is reached.

Q: Are spectators allowed?
A: Spectators are welcome at the start/finish area. However, access to the trail itself is restricted for safety reasons.

Pre-Event Information

Q: Is there a cut-off time for completing the race?

A: Yes, there is a cut-off time in the 55Km in place to ensure participant safety. All runners need to be at checkpoint 4 by 13:30. This is approximately at 38.5Km.

Q: Can I change my run distance?
A: Changes to run distances can be made up to the Tuesday before the event. There will be an admin fee for such changes in the sum of £10. Please email us on info@glentanartrailrunningfestival.co.uk

Race Day Logistics

Q: What time do I need to arrive?
A: Registration times are:

  • Friday 25 July 16:00-19:00
  • Saturday 26 July07:30-15:00
  • Sunday 27 July05:00-10:45

Q: What facilities are there at registration?
A: There will be toilets at the Event Hub along with a bag drop.

Q: Is there parking at the venues?
A: Yes, parking is available at the Event hub on Glen Tanar Estate.

Q: Will there be medical support?
A: The safety and welfare of our participants is paramount. There will be Paramedics and First Aiders at the event, all highly experienced at supplying the highest calibre of comprehensive medical cover in remote environments.

On the Run Course

Q: Are there any aid stations?
A: Yes, there is 1 aid station on the 15Km 2 on the 25Km and 4 on the 55Km. Each station will carry, Water, Energy Drink, Energy Gels, sweets and savoury snacks.

Q: What is the terrain like?
A: The route includes forest paths, uneven trails, and Mount Keen on the 55Km so there is plenty of elevation! Proper trail-running shoes are highly recommended.

Post-Race Information

Q: Will there be refreshments after the run?
A: We will provide Finish Line recovery snacks and drinks and there will also be catering options available for purchase on-site.

Q: Do I get a medal or memento?
A: Every participant receives a Finisher T shirt to commemorate their achievement.

Q: Are photos available after the event?
A: Yes, professional event photos will be available on our Facebook page in the week after the race. We cannot guarantee to get a photo of you at the race, but they will be free to download from our page.
